BASIC OPERATION
What does Circadia do?
Circadia combines contactless sensors and predictive insights to identify the most at-risk patients, allowing care teams to intervene earlier and reduce preventable hospital transfers.
What does Circadia monitor?
Circadia’s sensor is able to track respiratory rate, heart rate, and bed exits.
Where should the device be placed?
In a nursing facility, the sensor should be placed above the bed and behind the resident, pointed at their chest area. In the home, the sensor should be situated beside the bed, no more than 8 feet away and pointed toward the person’s chest.
SAFETY & PRIVACY
Is the device safe? Will it interfere with a pacemaker?
The sensor has been cleared by the FDA, and proven safe and effective for remotely monitoring vital signs. It will not interfere with a pacemaker.
Is there a camera?
No. The device uses radar technology, and only senses distance and motion.
Who will see the data that it tracks?
The only people who have access to Circadia’s data are care teams and authorized Circadia employees trained to follow HIPAA regulations.
IN THE HOME
What if the patient is not near the device?
That’s OK. Monitoring will start once the person is resting near the device, typically when they are lying in bed.
What if there is more than one person in the bed, like a spouse?
The device will monitor the person who is situated closest to the sensor. Be sure to point the device toward the chest area of the person who should be monitored. The presence of a second person will not interfere with the device.
Does wearing a CPAP affect respiration readings?
A CPAP does not affect the respiratory readings. However, the device should not be placed directly on top of the CPAP or BiPAP equipment.
Will the presence of a pet such as a dog interfere with the device?
No, the device is designed to monitor human-size bodies and track an adult’s breathing patterns. Your dog is welcome on the bed!
