Setting Up a Circadia Device

This guide walks you through setting up a new Circadia device for a member, from creating their account to confirming the device is connected. The full process takes about 5 minutes.

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • Your Circadia provider login

  • The new Circadia device

  • Access to the member's Wi-Fi network name and password

  • The Circadia app installed on your phone

Download the Circadia App

If you haven't already, download the Circadia app on your phone.

  • iOS: Download from the App Store

  • Android: Download from the Google Play Store

Part 1 — Create the Member Account

Step 1: Open the app

Sign in with your provider account. From the home screen you can see recent setups, switch facilities, and tap Start new setup to begin onboarding a new member.

Step 2: Create the member account

Enter the member's:

  • First name and last name

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

Then choose Email or Phone as their sign-in method, and enter the address or number they will use to access the Circadia app.

Step 3: Confirm the member is created

You'll see a confirmation that the member's app account is ready.

Tell the member: They can sign in with the email address you entered and the password you set. Ask them to change their password after their first sign-in.

Tap Continue to device setup.

Part 2 — Pair the Device

Step 4: Find the device code

Locate the code on the label on the back of the Circadia device. It looks like 3486-5d57-0624. You can either scan it with the camera or type it in manually.

Step 5: Scan with the camera

Position the device label inside the camera frame. Once the QR code is recognized, the device ID will appear in green, confirming a match.

Step 6: Confirm the device code

Review the device code that was captured.

  • If it's correct, tap Continue

  • If it's wrong, tap Change to re-enter it, or Scan again to rescan the label

Part 3 — Setup Mode and Wi-Fi

Step 7: Put the device in setup mode

Press and hold the button on the back of the device. The lights will slowly turn blue one by one until the whole circle is blue and you hear a chime.

Once the full circle is blue and the chime has played, tap Continue.

Step 8: Open phone Wi-Fi settings

Open your phone's Settings app and tap Wi-Fi. Look for the network named Circadia_XXXX (the last four characters match the device ID).

Tap to join it, then return to the Circadia app and tap I've Connected.

Step 9: Join the Circadia_XXXX network

In your phone's Wi-Fi settings, select the CIRCADIA_XXXX network. Once your phone shows it as connected, head back to the Circadia app to finish pairing.

Part 4 — Connect and Finish

Step 10: Select the member's Wi-Fi

Choose the Wi-Fi network the Circadia device should join long-term — typically the member's home network.

If the network isn't listed:

  • Tap Scan again to refresh the list, or

  • Tap Enter Wi-Fi manually instead

Step 11: Sending Wi-Fi settings

The app sends the Wi-Fi credentials to the device and restarts it. This may take up to 30 seconds — keep the app open while it finishes.

Step 12: Confirm the device light and finish

Check the lights on the device:

  • 🟢 Green light = Wi-Fi connected successfully

  • 🔴 Red light = Wi-Fi did not connect

After submitting Wi-Fi details, the lights may briefly turn red as the device restarts, then turn green once connected.

Optionally, enter the device location (e.g., "Bedroom") in the Where is this device? field, then tap Finish Setup.

Setup Complete

The member's device is now linked to their account and ready to hand off.

Final reminders for the member:

  • Sign in to the Circadia app with the email and password you created

  • Change the password after first sign-in

  • Keep the device powered on and within Wi-Fi range

Troubleshooting
